Along the backs of the mighty Columbia River in Central Oregon stands the stunning Multnomah Falls. With a total drop from both the upper and lower falls at 620 feet, it’s hard not to stand in awe of its splendor. On a late afternoon in early November, the fall colors of the Columbia River Gorge finally made their grand appearance, only to be accompanied by an onslaught of wind, rain and fog. Not many onlookers made the trip to these falls that day but I knew with the weather conditions hand, something magical could happen with the light and color, and it did. The frontal foliage has grown so tall in recent years that I had to place a tripod on top of another tripod, totaling a height of around 8 feet to get this angle with the upper and lower falls aligned. The crazy amounts of wind blowing up the gorge and also from the spray of the falling water, gave a dance like life to the leaves as they blew effortlessly in every direction.
