In the heart of deep winter in Colorados Rocky Mountain National Park resides of jewell of an alpine like named Dream Lake. One of the most beautiful places in Colorado whether you snowshoe in winter as I did or while a dry trail in summer. Each season offers something unique and on this day is was a frozen log half encapsulated in lake ice with snow blowing around. It gets real windy up there and snow does stick to the surface the ice like in other places very well. Sometimes you can see waves in the ice from melting and refreezing while the wild is blowing hard. This image was taken on a February evening after a morning on snowy weather when the skies cleared and allowed the faintest colors of sunset as darkness stirred in the distance.
