This image was captured in Katmai, Alaska. A COY or Cub of the Year, only about 5 months here, decided to adventure away from mom and come check out my camera lens. The little bears nose is actually covered in Pumice, not sand, as this little one lives within the vicinity of the 1912 Novarupta volcanic eruption. The little bear was only curious and playful and mom didn’t seem to mind as I had been kneeling close by for a long time beforehand. Its not every day a wild baby bear walks toward you and gives the most priceless facial expressions. Just another reason we need to protect these wild places.
