The Story Book Bear came about it in the last hour of daylight on a rainy September evening in Alaska. This yearling cub wiggled away from its playmate and nestled itself in between the trunks of these small trees. Minutes upon minutes went by and the bear didn’t lift a finger or move a muscle. Only upon much closer inspection I realized this little cub was blissfully watching rain drops fall on the leaves of the alder tree. As the leaves twitched, so would the bear’s eyes as it followed the gentlest movement with intrigue. I can only imagine this baby bear is day dreaming of days filled with rich salmon fishing and play dates with other little bear friends.
