It was early spring before the millions of salmon return from the ocean on their annual migration. This unique female Alaskan Brown Bear decrided there was no better place to wait for the incoming runs of sockeye  than to climb upon a rock in the middle of the famous Brooks River and wait. It is such striking and abnormal behavior that a mighty 900lb brown bear would show such patients and sense of calm. Of course I had to wade into the middle of the river a hundred or so yards downstream and take her portrait.
