Backlit Brown Bear

Wading in a knee deep in an Alaskan river with a brown bear circling all around me, I watched as it faded in and out of the harsh light created by the setting sun. As the bear moved back into the harshest point of light I could ‘bearly’ stand to look in its direction. I quickly spun down the ISO on my camera to the lowest setting hoping to drastically underexpose the bear to the point only the rim light would show. I squinted my eyes and took the picture. The light was so bright it did the job and even little droplets of water were highlighted creating an amazing juxtaposition between light and dark.
