Sometimes you have to do so very little to find a winning photo. I mean; time, place, lighting and luck. Thats about all it takes sometimes. Which is exactly how this image came about. I was hiking in the aspen trees on a small hillside south west of Telluride Colorado, when I glanced across to the adjacent hillside and saw this scene laid out before me. It was perfectly lit and with a full diversity of colors. I raised my camera, adjusted my exposure and with one click, I knew I had captured something special. It’s pretty rare that a scene like this exists in that each grove of aspens trees is uniquely its own microorganism. Commonly a singular aspen grove will  fill an entire hillside and change color at the same rate, but not here.
