The beautiful brown bear takes a brief break from lake fishing when he stood and gazed my direction. We were both wading chest deep in the waters of Naknek lake in late September hoping to find something wonderful. I however, was not after food. I was after a calm water photograph with a bear, specifically from a low angle to put emphasis on the changing colors in the distance, so I waded deep. Bears usually float around like hippos when lake fishing and move around pretty slow, but will stand when they need a higher perspective visual on something like salmon. He lifted his head, gave my direction a good look over, then went right back to searching for tasty salmon bits.
