The Tsuki-yama is a traditional garden style of Japan consisting of rolling hills and ponds filled with lush foliage and the occasional small waterfall.  This tightly captured image shows all the delicate interworkings of the garden from the flat bridge to the pagoda in the background to the brilliant orange lace-leaf maple and waterfall with pond in the foreground. The lace-leaf maple reached it peak of call color change this day and with the heavy morning rains the  small delicate leaves littered the ground like droplets of paint. This image brings all the visual pieces of the garden together so nicely between the juxtaposition of the smooth flowing waters and busy almost painterly landscape.
